Life Stories was created in the summer of 2007 to help people get their stories in print. The mission began with memoirs. Stories are lost if they aren’t recorded. I led writing classes on the campus of Asheville’s largest retirement community for three years. The stories were priceless and many had never been told to anyone, nor strung together to form a body of work. These fabulous authors were doing that for themselves as much as for anyone. Opening the memories and writing them down made them realize their own personal wealth of experiences. It reminded them of where they had been and over what roads they had traveled. Our reading room was full of vitality. It was remarkable.
Books have called my name as long as I could remember, but leaving Boston meant saying goodbye to publishing, or so I thought. A new press came on the scene making it possible to return to my passion for book design. I left my job in a printing company’s art department to follow my bliss again.
Life Stories produces books for individuals who want to preserve their memories or authors who want their books in print.
